I am a Ph.D. candidate in Finance at NUS Business School, National University of Singapore.
In early 2027, I will join the Department of Banking and Finance at Monash Business School as a Senior Lecturer in Finance (equivalent to an Assistant Professor). My job market paper is Financial Shocks and Insurer Service Quality.
My research studies how regulatory and informational frictions in financial markets shape outcomes for ordinary households. My job market paper shows that financial shocks lead U.S. property and casualty insurers to lower the quality of the service they provide, even when the insurers remain solvent. In other work, I study how private information creates return inequality between wealthy and ordinary investors, and whether the labor market disciplines misconduct by insurance agents. My work relies on high-quality administrative data and quasi-experimental research designs.
I hold an M.Sc. in Economics from Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor of Management from Sun Yat-sen University. Before starting my Ph.D., I worked as a research assistant at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER).
